Privacy policy

Magnet is paid for by the families who use it. There is no advertising business here, so there is nothing to profile you for. This page describes exactly what we hold and who else ever sees it.
The short version
- We do not show advertising and we do not sell or share your personal information.
- We do not use your household's data, including anything created by children, to train machine learning models.
- We use one cookie, to keep you signed in. There is no analytics or tracking on this site.
- You can export or permanently delete your household's data yourself, from Settings, without contacting us.
What we hold
An account holder creates a household and invites the rest of the family into it. For each person in a household we store:

| Password, salted and hashed | Sign-in. We never store the password itself and cannot read it |

| Session records | Keeps you signed in. Expire automatically |
Beyond that, we hold whatever your household puts into Magnet: calendar entries, lists, meal plans and recipes, reward points, projects, trips and their bookings and budgets, photos, and profile pictures. That content belongs to your household.
Who else sees it
No advertising networks, data brokers or analytics providers. None.
A small number of services are involved in running the product. These are the only third parties that ever receive anything:

Trip pages sometimes link out to Google Maps for directions. Those are ordinary links: nothing is sent to Google unless you click one.
Where it lives
Magnet runs on Cloudflare's network, and your household's data is stored in Cloudflare's database and object storage. Cloudflare operates globally and may store or process data in more than one region.
How long we keep it
Your content stays until you delete it. Sessions expire on their own. If you delete your household, its content is removed from our database and object storage; backups age out on their normal cycle.
Your choices
- Export. One action in Settings gives you your household's content as files you own.
- Delete. You can delete individual items, a person, or the whole household, yourself.
- Downgrade, don't lose. Stopping payment moves you to the free plan. Nothing is deleted or locked away.
Depending on where you live you may also have rights to access, correct or object to our handling of your information. Contact us and we will help.
Children
Magnet is built for families and expects children to use it, under a parent or guardian who holds the account. This is covered separately in Children's privacy.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that materially affects you, we will say so in the product rather than quietly editing this page.
