Cookie policy
Last updated 20 July 2026
Magnet uses one cookie. It keeps you signed in. There is no analytics, no advertising and no third-party tracking, which is why you have never seen a consent banner here.
The cookie we set
| Cookie | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
| Session | Identifies your signed-in session so you do not have to log in on every page | Until it expires or you sign out |
It is set when you create a household, join one or sign in, and cleared when you sign out. It holds a random identifier, not your name, email or password.
What we do not set
- No analytics or measurement cookies. We do not run an analytics product.
- No advertising or retargeting cookies. There is no advertising in Magnet.
- No third-party tracking cookies, social widgets or embedded trackers.
Why there is no consent banner
Consent banners exist because sites set cookies that are not necessary for the service to work. The session cookie is strictly necessary: without it you cannot stay signed in. Under the rules that normally require a banner, strictly necessary cookies are exempt.
If we ever add anything beyond that, we will ask first rather than adding a banner and assuming.
Other requests your browser makes
A few functional services are contacted while you use the app: Cloudflare Turnstile on the sign-up form, weather and place-name lookups on trip and dashboard pages, and country flag images on itineraries. They may set their own cookies under their own policies. What each receives is listed in the privacy policy.
Turning it off
You can block or clear cookies in your browser. Blocking the session cookie means you will not be able to stay signed in, but the marketing pages will still work.
